She’s a real “Woman.”
When asked recently why she thinks people “go crazy” over her seemingly outrageous antics, singer/rapper Doja Cat suggested perhaps they don’t see her as a “real” human being.
“My theory is that if someone has never met me in real life, then, subconsciously, I’m not real to them,” the “Need to Know” hitmaker said in a new Harper’s Bazaar cover story. “So when people become engaged with someone they don’t even know on the internet, they kind of take ownership over that person.
“They think that person belongs to them in some sense. And when that person changes drastically, there is a shock response that is almost uncontrollable,” continued the 27-year-old singer. “ I’ve accepted that that’s what happens. So I put my wigs on and take them off. I shave my head or my eyebrows. I have all the freedom in the world.”
Doja’s remarks come nearly a month after she told her fans who named themselves “Kittenz” to “get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
“My fans don’t get to name themselves s—t,” the “Boss Bitch” singer declared in a series of since-deleted tweets.
“What should i change my name to since you don’t like the term kitten,” one fan asked the Grammy-winning songstress.
“Just delete the entire account and rethink everything it’s never too late,” Doja snapped back.
Her bluntness resulted in her losing 250,000 Instagram followers — something she claimed made her “feel free” on Wednesday
“Seeing all these people unfollow makes me feel like I’ve defeated a large beast that’s been holding me down for so long and it feels like I can reconnect with the people who really matter and love me for who I am and not for who I was,” Doja wrote in an Instagram Story. “I feel free.”
