Jets vs. Buccaneers prediction: NFL preseason picks, odds

The Jets pounded the Panthers last week, winning 27-0 and holding first-overall pick Bryce Young to three punts on three drives (including two three-and-outs).

I don’t want to draw too many conclusions from faux football, but the Jets’ defense will be great if their line looks as good as it did last week.

The Jets forced 10 hurries, five sacks and two other quarterback hits.

The line should eat again Saturday night, given the Buccaneers are starting Kyle Trask at quarterback instead of Baker Mayfield.

The Jets are 6-1-1 straight up (SU) and 6-2 against the spread (ATS) in eight preseason contests under head coach Robert Saleh.

They also have a backup quarterback who dominates preseason football.

Zach Wilson isn’t a good NFL quarterback, yet he has completed 17 of his 25 attempts for 188 yards and a touchdown in two preseason appearances against the second-stringers.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is 0-4 SU and ATS in four preseason games under head coach Todd Bowles.

Betting on the NFL?

I believe Saleh’s Jets will continue their preseason roll, beating Bowles, Trask and the Buccaneers while covering more than a field-goal-sized spread.

The play: Jets -3.5 (-110, BetMGM)
