Kate, William, Harry pay tribute to late Queen on death anniversary

One year has gone by without Queen Elizabeth ruling the United Kingdom.

Prince William and Kate Middleton spent Friday penning a poignant tribute to the late monarch on the first anniversary of her death.

Alongside a carousel of momentous snapshots of the sovereign, they wrote on Instagram: “Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth. We all miss you. W & C.”

The gallery of photos included one of Elizabeth at her Platinum Jubilee last year waving on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Other images featured the mother of four wearing her iconic colorful hat-and-matching coat combos.

Middleton and William, both 41, are also set to be present on Friday at St Davids Cathedral in South Wales to pay their respects to the queen.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will take part in a church service and will meet members of the local community.

Sources have recently told People how the Windsors are adapting to life with King Charles as the head of the family and the British Empire.

“There is an enormous loss,” an insider said. “[The Queen] played a very important part in all of their lives. But I’m impressed at how smoothly things are moving forward given all the little hiccups that there are in the background.”

The clan is spending the time remembering the queen at their summer vacation home, Balmoral Castle, in Scotland this week.

One former palace employee explained that the gathering of the royals at the residence is a “chance to leave your crown on the gatepost and put your raincoat on.”

“When [the royals] walk into a room, I’m sure they expect [the queen] to be there. Balmoral was her favorite place in the world, and now will be the time that they reflect on her loss,” they continued.

Charles, 74, also praised his late mom Friday in a pre-recorded speech that was scribed at Balmoral. He recalled “with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.”

“In marking the first anniversary of Her Late Majesty’s death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us,” he said.

“I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”

Prince Harry, meanwhile, traveled to St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle (where he married Meghan Markle in May 2018) for a private visit on Friday, The Telegraph reported. One day earlier, he gave a moving speech about the queen at the WellChild Awards.

“As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away,” he said in London on Thursday. “As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her. And that’s precisely why I know, exactly one year on, she is looking down on all of us tonight, happy we’re together continuing to spotlight such an incredible community.”
