Broncos’ Hail Mary touchdown can’t save them from loss to Commanders

Russell Wilson threw up a prayer and nearly pulled off an incredible comeback.

The Broncos managed to pull within two points of tying the Commanders on a last-ditch Hail Mary as the clock was about to expire on Sunday.

Wilson threw up a 50-yard pass into the end zone that was tipped three times before Brandon Johnson miraculously came up with the ball for the touchdown to give Denver a chance to tie the score.

The stunned Broncos crowd erupted as it looked as though Denver would manage to force overtime.

But the celebration was short-lived as the Broncos two-point conversion fell short and the Commanders held on for the 35-33 win.
