What happens behind closed doors should stay there.
That’s what Aaron Rodgers was hoping for, at least.
During his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the Jets quarterback expressed disappointment over the fact his conversation with the team before their Sunday night clash against the Chiefs spilled out into the open.
“I will say this, you know, when it comes to some of the stuff I talked about, I think that was one of the more disappointing things about the entire weekend is that, you know, part of the process of being a team that’s connected and being a team that sticks together is that there’s something things that are meant for the locker room, and conversations that should stay in the meeting room, should stay in the locker room, should stay in the hotel,” Rodgers said Tuesday.
“… We need to learn as organizations that some things need to be kept in-house. We got to tighten the ship up a little bit.”
Rodgers, who is recovering from a season-ending Achilles injury sustained in Week 1, addressed the team at their hotel on Saturday.
The speech followed a tumultuous week for the Jets, with some players erupting at personnel on the sidelines during an ugly Week 3 loss to the Patriots.
Third-year quarterback Zach Wilson also endured a tidal wave of criticism for his play, namely from Jets legend Joe Namath.
The team’s second-overall pick in 2021 turned in an impressive performance against the Chiefs, however, throwing two touchdowns and zero interceptions on “Sunday Night Football.”
Although Wilson blamed himself for the 23-20 loss due to a critical fourth-quarter fumble, his teammates rallied in support of the embattled signal-caller.
Rodgers said Tuesday that he believes there’s a “better energy” around the Jets following a rough few weeks.
“I like our frame of mind right now,” he said.
The Jets visit the Broncos on Sunday.
