The Taylor Swift effect doesn’t seem to be limited to headlines and social media followers.
Perhaps tight end Travis Kelce owes his new beau a thank-you for his on-the-field performance as well.
That’s according to a graphic that CBS Sports pieced together during Sunday’s Chargers-Chiefs.
In a stat that will delight Swifties, and make some football fans groan in annoyance, CBS calculated that Kelce has performed better in the games where Swift was in attendance compared to the ones she missed.
In fact, Kelce averaged 46.5 yards per game on days that the “Anti-Hero” singer wasn’t in the stands.
When she has been on hand, Kelce’s yards-per-game average jumps to 99.0.
Kansas City has also been benefiting from Swift’s presence, having now won six straight games, including four which have come with the singer watching.
That includes Sunday’s 31-17 victory over the Chargers, in which Kelce had 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown.
Kelce has now recorded back-to-back weeks with 100-plus-yard games, and the tight end could be in for another big game with another game against the Broncos in Week 8.
Kelce had 124 receiving yards in Week 6 against Denver on “Thursday Night Football” and set a personal best for the season in receiving yards until his Week 7 effort against the Chargers.
As has been the case since the pair’s whirlwind romance became public in September, Swift’s appearance at Arrowhead Stadium was as much a story as the game itself.
The famed singer was sitting with Brittany Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson, on Sunday.
The two were seen having the time of their lives, dancing, high-fiving and enjoying themselves inside the suite at Arrowhead.
The CBS cameras even caught Mahomes and Swift breaking out a personalized secret handshake while celebrating a Chiefs touchdown in the second quarter.
