Red Wings vs. Rangers Pick
Oddsmakers have designated the Rangers as the favorites for this matchup, despite their ongoing battle with injuries. While this might have been a surprising development a few weeks ago, given the red-hot performances of DeBrincat and Larkin, the current state of the Red Wings paints a more logical picture. The Rangers boast a formidable team that’s challenging to bet against.
The prevalence of injuries, however, makes me hesitate to back New York on the puck line. Moreover, the potential payout on the moneyline doesn’t quite meet my preferences. Instead, I suggest considering the Under 6.5 goals on FanDuel (note that other sportsbooks offer an over/under at 6, which carries slightly more risk).
The Rangers maintain a potent offense, although it’s somewhat compromised without Fox and Chytil, making it a bit less effective in capitalizing on Detroit’s goaltending weaknesses. On the flip side, Detroit’s offense has cooled off significantly from its strong start, making the Rangers’ defensive task more manageable.
