Matthew Perry buried in private, star-studded plot after funeral

Matthew Perry has been laid to rest, but the exact location of his grave is under wraps for privacy reasons, according to TMZ.

The “Friends” star died unexpectedly on Oct. 28 at age 54 of an apparent drowning at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Perry’s cause of death has been “deferred,” so it’s unknown if he had a relapse after openly talking about his lifelong struggles with addiction, including detailing it in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” However, authorities believe no foul play was involved and no drugs were found at the scene.

Athenna Crosby — one of the last friends to see him just 24 hours before his death — didn’t believe that to be the case.

On Friday, Nov. 3, there was a private funeral service for Perry’s family and friends.

Former “Friends” cast Jennifer Aniston, 54, Lisa Kudrow, 60, Courteney Cox, 59, David Schwimmer, 57, and Matt LeBlanc, 56, were all in attendance.

Perry, who starred as the iconic Chandler Bing for all 10 seasons of the show from 1994 to 2004, was buried in the Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills.

TMZ reports that he’s been laid to rest in the secluded outdoor mausoleum area called the Sanctuary of Treasured Love, which is a gated off private section on the grounds.

A slew of other big name celebs are buried there, including Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Michael Clarke Duncan and Black Sabbath’s Ronnie James Dio.

After Friday’s service, there were flowers at Perry’s gravesite. By Tuesday, the flowers were gone and his plot reportedly looked bare – perhaps because his family didn’t want huge crowds to be alerted to the exact location.

Crowds of mourning fans have also flocked to the “Friends” apartment in Manhattan to pay their respects to Perry.

Although “Friends” was filmed on a Hollywood soundstage, it featured regular exterior shots of the six-story building at 90 Bedford Street in the West Village.

A makeshift memorial has been erected there, as dozens of mourners have left hand written notes and flowers.

Steve Rogers, a British father on a vacation with his family to New York City, told The Post: “He’s a comedy hero of mine. It’s quite surreal really to be able to come and pay our respects.”

Brazilian native Jeniffer Alvez, who also came to pay her respects, said that she moved to Manhattan three months before the COVID-19 pandemic, and watched the show every day during the lockdown.

“All of them, especially Matthew, help me through the darkest time in my life,” she told The Post.

“They were such a part of my life. I didn’t know I would feel this way. I’m not sure how I’m going to feel when I watch ‘Friends’ again after this. I hope he rests in peace.”
