Big Dom banned from Eagles sidelines vs. Cowboys

Dom DiSandro’s days of creating viral sideline moments appear to be over – at least for one game.

The Eagles’ head of security who got into an altercation with 49ers’  linebacker Dre Greenlaw last week will be banned from the sidelines for Philadelphia’s rivalry game against the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday night, according to multiple reports.

DiSandro, who is known as “Big Dom”, and Eagles brass met with Commissioner Roger Goodell at the league office on Friday morning, according to reports.

This is not a suspension on DiSandro as he will be allowed to travel to Dallas and perform all his regular duties and be permitted in the stadium, but will not have access to the sideline.

The league is still reviewing additional material from the incident to determine if additional discipline is appropriate, according to ESPN.

Greenlaw could be fined for his hit on receiver DeVonta Smith that sparked the sideline fracas.

During last Sunday night’s Eagles-49ers game, DiSandro made contact with Greenlaw in the field of play, which is against NFL rules.

“He seemed like a genuine guy,” Greenlaw told reporters on Wednesday, according to The Athletic. “He seemed like a guy everyone loved in the building. So I hate that it even escalated and went to that.”

DiSandro, who is a local legend in Philadelphia, was stepping between Greenlaw and Smith.

The 49ers star ended up throwing a closed-hand swipe that made contact with DiSandro’s face.

Both were ejected from the game.

“I also don’t think [DiSandro] pushed [Greenlaw] that bad, so I’m not trying to build that up either,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday, according to ESPN. “That stuff happens all the time and people break it up. There’s no penalties and you can go back and you move on with your life and you get it going. Dre just got ejected, and when they look at why and then I guess then that guy should have too. But that’s why I don’t want that guy made an example out of. I just think we should have kept it moving.”
