Shohei Ohtani murals already popping up around LA area

Shohei Ohtani is already getting the Hollywood treatment.

The newest Dodgers signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with the team and was officially introduced by the team last week.

It didn’t take long for Ohtani to get a larger-than-life tribute as two murals of him have gone up in the Los Angeles area.

Famed street artist Jonas Never, who has done one for LeBron James and Anthony Bourdain, painted the reigning AL MVP in a Dodgers jersey and a bat over his shoulder on the side of the Prociety shop in downtown LA.

The mural has the words “Sho-time” in Dodgers’ blue and white behind him.

The piece took a day and a half to complete and Never had help from fellow artist Droyce, according to TMZ.

Another Ohtani mural also went up on the Oceanview Liquor Store in Hermosa Beach and was painted by artist Gustavo Zermeno Jr, according to KABC.

“I was actually going to come out here and paint a Kings mural on this side, and then on the opposite end, do Dodgers and Lakers, and with Ohtani signing, you know, this being the more prominent wall, we’ve got to throw him up there and make sure he’s the focal point of the whole project,” Zermeno told the outlet.

The mural has Ohtani in a side profile next to the Dodgers logo as the centerpiece to images of fellow LA sports stars.

Ohtani, who will not pitch this season after having elbow surgery, is one of baseball’s most dynamic players during his six seasons with the Angels.

He is coming off a season where he hit .304 with 44 homers, 95 RBIs and stole 20 bases with a 1.066 OPS

Ohtani also pitched to a 10-5 record with a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts.
