Nebraska flips Georgia five-star QB Dylan Raiola in recruiting win

The Cornhuskers pulled off a flip.

Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola announced on Monday that he will sign with Nebraska instead of joining Georgia’s 2024 recruiting class.

The Buford (Ga.) High School star will follow in his father’s footsteps and head to Lincoln, where his father, Dominic, was an All-American offensive lineman before a 14-season NFL career.

Raiola’s uncle, Donovan, is also the Huskers’ offensive line coach.

“I firmly believe that Nebraska is in my blood,” Raiola told ESPN. “It’s a great opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself. Nebraska is a special place.”

The younger Raiola had committed to Ohio State in May 2022 before changing to Georgia a year later.

But with the Bulldogs having rising senior Carson Beck back under center next season, Raiola will instead try to help Nebraska end its seven-season bowl drought — and add to its collection of five national championships and three Heisman winners.

“I think it’ll mean a lot to bring it back,” Raiola said. “Just because of the legacy of so many great players that have walked through that locker room that’s been established there — to keep doing what they established.”

Adding Raiola is a huge win for coach Matt Rhule, who went 5-7 in his return to college football with Nebraska.

The QB threw for 2,666 yards and 34 touchdowns with one interception in his final high school season.

The move also leaves Georgia with three five-star recruits in its 2024 class, as well as four-star recruit Ryan Puglisi coming in as well.

Raiola said he plans to enroll in early January and get a jump start on furthering his family’s legacy in Lincoln.

“I believe from my dad being there, I understand the history of the program,” Raiola said. “I also understand my family legacy there and the fan base and aspirations. I strongly believe in the vision and culture that Coach Rhule has established with his staff.”
