Wife of Jets player cut for Aaron Rodgers responds to ‘pissed’ fan

Jets fullback Nick Bawden’s wife shed light on his future after he was cut from the 53-man roster Wednesday.

Alexis Bawden shared that her husband is doing just fine following his release to make room for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who’s still rehabbing his torn right Achilles.

“I’m so pissed they cut Nick,” one fan wrote under a TikTok video Alexis shared Wednesday. “Hope they resign [sic] him.”

Alexis commented back, writing: “He’s fine!! Haha will be back on the team tomorrow.”

Bawden has played in all 13 games for the Jets this season, and scored a touchdown in their Week 3 loss to the Patriots.

Alexis went viral for her incredible reaction, which was shared by the official NFL X account at the time.

The couple also attended Rodgers’ 40th birthday party at Zero Bond, an exclusive members-only club, in New York City, after the Jets’ loss to the Falcons on Dec. 3.

Bawden, a seventh-round pick of the Lions in the 2018 NFL Draft, signed with the Jets in August.

He was on injured reserve last season and missed the entire 2022 campaign after playing nine games with the Jets in 2021.

The Jets activated Rodgers to the 53-man roster three weeks after opening his 21-day practice window.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday that Rodgers will not play this year.

“It’s all part of his rehab,” the third-year head coach said. “Just having him out on the football field is a plus for everybody. It’s a plus for him, it’s a plus for his teammates, so we’re going to keep him on the 53.”

Rodgers said Tuesday he has “no timetable to come back” during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“If I was 100 percent today, I’d be definitely pushing to play [Sunday vs. Washington],” he said. “The fact is I’m not. I’ve been working hard to get closer to that. I’m still 14 weeks tomorrow from my surgery. Being medically cleared at 100 percent healed is not realistic at 14 weeks.”

Rodgers ruptured his left Achilles just four snaps into the Jets’ season-opening overtime win over the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 11.

The former MVP had a “speed bridge” surgery done, which is a procedure that is designed to accelerate the normal rehabilitation process from the injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

“I wanted at least two years, so I feel like this year is kind of a lost year now that I was only able to play a couple snaps and wasn’t able to go out there and prove what I’m capable of and see what we’re capable of as a team,” Rodgers said.

“I don’t think next year will be my last year. With some of the things that I’ve learned over the last year, taking care of my body and surrounding myself with some great people who have been helping me with my nutrition and functional training at a more acute level, I feel like I can play more years and I can be effective into my 40s.”
