Skip Bayless calls Taylor Swift ‘a distraction’ after latest Chiefs loss

Skip Bayless has had enough of the NFL’s coverage — or maybe rather the league’s obsession — he would likely say, with Taylor Swift.

Following the Chiefs’ 20-14 loss to the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium, Bayless posed a question to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, coach Andy Reid and star tight end Travis Kelce, the singer’s boyfriend, about her continued presence at his games.

“Feels like it’s about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction,” he wrote on X. “What do you think, Patrick? Andy? How about you, Travis?”

Throughout the Christmas matchup, the broadcast, as many have had in the past when Swift is in attendance, flashed to the 12-time Grammy winner after Kelce made a catch or the Chiefs scored a touchdown.

On Monday, the CBS Sports cameras caught Swift consoling Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, after the home game loss in which they were double-digit favorites to win from the start.

It was a frustrating game for the Chiefs and one in which that saw an outburst from Kelce.

Earlier in the game, he was caught slamming his helmet with Mahomes and Reid attempting to calm him down.

While Bayless might blame Swift for the disappointing outcome, however, the Chiefs have not looked like the Super Bowl champions they were in the 2022 season.

The offense has struggled to give a consistent output, starting with Mahomes, who has come in at under 250 passing yards in seven games on the season — including a total of 235 in the sloppy Christmas nightmare.

Last season, for which he was crowned the MVP, he had five games under 250 passing yards.

Kelce has also hit several roadblocks as Mahomes’ go-to passing option.

Across 14 games in 2022, he had 1,144 yards under his belt for 12 touchdowns across 127 targets while this season in 14 games, Kelce has tallied 968 for five touchdowns over 117 targets.

He had five receptions for 44 yards against the Raiders and was kept out of the end zone.
