‘Multiple owners’ in contact with Bill Belichick about 2025 season

Don’t expect Bill Belichick to be away from an NFL sideline for too long.

While he won’t start the 2024 season with a coaching job, around the league many are expecting him to be back among the coaching ranks in 2025 and he’s even heard from a number of NFL owners, according to a report by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Sunday

“Belichick does want to continue to coach and the expectation right now within the league is Belichick is coaching somewhere come 2025,” Peliissero reported. “In fact, I am told shortly after the Falcons opted to hire Raheem Morris over Belichick several weeks ago, multiple owners reached out to Belichick about next year’s hiring cycle.

“He is 15 wins shy of breaking Don Shula’s all-time wins record, including the playoffs. He’s motivated to get that record. Bill Belichick will be 73 years old before the 2025 season begins, but this is going to be one of the big storylines over the next coming year.”

It has shocked just about everyone in the NFL that Belichick did not land a job after he and the Patriots parted ways after the season ended.

Belichick was passed over for all eight head coach openings this offseason and only interviewed with the Falcons, who hired Morris.

While reports had surfaced that Belichick had wanted complete control, Falcons owner Arthur Blank did shoot those down after hiring Morris.

“I do want to make it 1,000 percent clear, want to go to 2,000 percent or 100,000, whatever percent you want to use: Bill Belichick never asked for, in our discussion, full control of the personnel or the building or anything of that nature,” Blank told reporters at the time.

Belichick and the Patriots parted ways Jan. 11 after he led the team for 24 years and captured six Super Bowl titles while in New England.
