Florence + the Machine have confirmed details of their sixth studio album, announcing ‘Everybody Scream’ for release on Halloween, October 31. The project’s title track debuted today alongside a striking video directed by Autumn de Wilde, giving fans the first glimpse into this new chapter. Preorders for the record are now live.
Frontwoman Florence Welch spent the past two years writing and producing the album with a trusted circle of collaborators. Contributions include Mark Bowen of IDLES, who also appears in the video for ‘Everybody Scream,’ as well as acclaimed artists Aaron Dessner and Mitski.
Moreover, the album arrives after a deeply personal period in Welch’s life. Following lifesaving surgery during the Dance Fever Tour, her recovery inspired a journey through mysticism, witchcraft, and folk horror. These influences shaped the record’s exploration of themes such as womanhood, partnership, aging, and mortality—subjects Welch describes as finding “the murky in the mundane.”
Across five celebrated albums – Lungs (2009), Ceremonials (2011), How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (2015), High As Hope (2018), and Dance Fever (2022)—Florence has become one of the defining voices of her generation. Her monumental live presence, coupled with collaborations alongside The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift, cements her global impact. Beyond music, she has also published Useless Magic, a book blending lyrics, poetry, and art.
With ‘Everybody Scream’, Florence + the Machine now embraces a darker, more introspective vision, promising a release that pushes her artistry into bold new territory.
