Judge orders ankle monitor after RÜFÜS DU SOL concert attack

Judge ordered Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala, the 23-year-old accused of attacking three people at RÜFÜS DU SOL August 16th Rose Bowl Stadium show, to wear an ankle monitor as he awaits trial.

Zavala appeared in court last week following his arrest after a viral video showed him repeatedly striking concertgoers when a spilled drink allegedly set him off. The Pasadena Police Department reported that the outburst injured three people, and Shelby Elston said the attack knocked her unconscious.

Elston later shared footage of the attack on social media, where she detailed her injuries and appealed to the public for help in identifying the suspect. Online tips poured in, eventually leading investigators to Zavala. She accused him of violently beating her and her friends before fleeing into the crowd.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, the judge ruled Zavala did not pose a broader public threat, NBC 4 Los Angeles reported. He was released on his own recognizance but must wear an ankle monitoring device until his next court appearance in October.

The disturbing incident sparked conversations about crowd safety at large-scale concerts, especially as fans demand stricter measures to prevent violence at live music events. RÜFÜS DU SOL previously issued a statement expressing heartbreak over the attack and encouraged witnesses to cooperate with authorities.
