For this month’s Kaamin Selects, I’ve explored a few different directions, bringing together selections for house heads, psychedelic techno enthusiasts, fans of nineties-inspired dance music, and electro cuts that carry their own distinct character.
I.O.N – They are looking at You
Paolo Mosca, an Italian artist, unveiled his new alias I.O.N towards the end of last year with his debut EP on Ritmotherapy. Strongly influenced by nineties breakbeat and hip hop, the project blends nostalgic rhythms with a modern club sensibility. While the entire EP stands out for its consistency, the track that resonated with me most was They Are Looking At You. It opens at a restrained pace, driven by a rolling breakbeat and a hypnotic, repetitive vocal phrase. The bassline is tightly crafted, locking into the groove and translating effortlessly on the dancefloor. The real moment arrives midway through the track, when a melodic line gradually unfolds, clearly nodding to cult sci-fi influences like The Matrix. It adds a cinematic quality that makes the track feel immersive, almost like stepping into a film scene.

Dual Monitor – Earth And Ground
Dual Monitor have been storming there way into the industry with back to back hits over the past few years. Flirting between the lines of electro and dubstep, their tunes are a dj’s safe bet. They know its going to work well on the dance floor. The tune starts off with a dubby bold rhythm with percussion laying the foundation of the groove. The organic ethereal textures add to the overall vibe while the vocals add a dark tonal texture. With new elements flowing in, the track feels like a journey. Deep, Dark And Dubby.

Hersey – In My Life
Fresh on the respected house label Berg Audio, Hersey’s new Elements EP channels the spirit of classic tech house with a focus on simplicity and dancefloor impact. Built around a tight, infectious groove, the track wastes no time in establishing its energy, which has already seen it doing the rounds on some of the biggest stages worldwide. Subtle dub-inspired touches add just enough character and warmth to elevate the rhythm, while the vocals appear sparingly, enhancing the momentum without overwhelming the mix. O.V.N.I – North Star
Released as part of a vinyl-only project on Off the Grid Records, this track marks the return of a Goa trance pioneer after more than two decades under this moniker. Blending psychedelia with a subtle house groove, it sits comfortably in the kind of sets championed by selectors like Jane Fitz, Marco Shuttle, and Matthew Dexter. There’s a strong sense of nostalgia woven throughout, driven by a hypnotic bassline that locks in seamlessly with a haunting, slow-burning topline. M.R. LODE – Rhythms Of The Night
The Macedonia-based label behind Pirka Vinyl Cuts has steadily built a reputation for releasing some of the finer house records in recent years, and M.R. Lode’s early 2025 EP continues that tradition. Designed with the dancefloor in mind, the track stands out as a set highlight without leaning into conventional house formulas. The drum work is particularly refined, with intricate percussion creating a groove that feels both fresh and instantly infectious. Soulful vocal samples weave through the arrangement, adding warmth and character. Blending elements of house, soul, retro funk, and more, the record manages to feel rich in texture while remaining highly effective in a club setting.

Against The Grain – Seven
Although the duo is no longer active, their music continues to resonate on dancefloors years later. Diego Dari and Luca Ricci released this two-track vinyl on the UK-based breakbeat, house, and techno imprint Low Pressings back in 2002, and it remains a timeless underground gem. The track opens with a stripped-back groove built around a steady kick, conga hits, and a sparse hi-hat pattern, allowing the rhythm to breathe. J. Kumada’s whispered vocal phrases drift through the mix, enhancing the hypnotic atmosphere, before a sharp synth stab enters midway, lifting the energy without disrupting the flow. Human Space Machine, Sunju Hargun – Spiral
Released in December 2025 as part of the first instalment of a new collaborative project between Human Space Machine and Sunju Hargun, this record feels like a natural meeting of two artists who have been delivering consistently strong releases in recent years. The A2 cut on the HSH001 vinyl is a driving acid workout built as a slow-burning journey across its six-minute runtime. Mix Of The Month: Matthew Dexter – Live at Butik Festival 2025
Matthew Dexter stands out as one of the most refined house and techno selectors, and his set at Butik Festival 2025 is a masterclass in deep, hypnotic track selection. Rooted in the spirit of nineties electronic music, the mix flows effortlessly, with each track seamlessly weaving into the next. Since its release last year, Carlitos has become a staple in my sets, and for good reason. Featured on M.A.D Records’ five-year anniversary compilation, the track blends an infectious indie dance rhythm with a perfectly placed acid line that drives the groove forward. Sparse yet effective vocals add texture and lift, enhancing the track’s overall energy without overcrowding the mix. It’s a tight, feel-good cut that balances attitude and dancefloor functionality with ease.
