The Texans weren’t expected to be much of a threat this season, much less be in the playoff discussion in the AFC.
Behind second-overall draft pick C.J. Stroud, the 7-5 Texans are very much in the wild-card race and one game behind the Jaguars for the AFC South lead.
The Texans head to MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face the struggling 4-8 Jets, who are going back to Zach Wilson at quarterback this week.
Wilson hasn’t been the answer in place of the injured Aaron Rodgers — throwing for 1,944 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions in 10 games.
The Jets have dropped five straight games, scoring just 45 points in this span.
Dating back to mid-October, Gang Green have cashed the Under in six of their past seven games, including an Under on a 33 total in last Sunday’s 13-8 loss to Atlanta.
Stroud is putting up tremendous numbers for Houston.
Betting on the NFL?
He has compiled 3,540 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes, and is the odds-on favorite to capture Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Houston has won four of its past five games, but the Texans left NRG Stadium only once during this span.
In spite of this total dipping down to 33 points, it’s hard to have faith in the Jets lighting up the scoreboard here.
The play: Texans-Jets Under 33.
