The woman allegedly at the center of Von Miller’s arrest warrant claims the incident has been “blown way out of context.”
Miller, the star Bills linebacker, turned himself in to Glenn Heights, Texas police on Thursday, hours after Dallas authorities issued an arrest warrant for the 34-year-old.
Police responded to a “major disturbance” call at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, with a preliminary investigation determining he and his victim, who told authorities she is six weeks pregnant, “got into a verbal argument and the suspect assaulted the victim.”
Miller is facing charges of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, a third-degree felony, after he allegedly pushed the victim and put his hands around her throat.
In a 911 call obtained by WFAA, she purports to have been hit and choked with “bruises all over me.”
“He pulled my hair out. I have, like, some blood on me — but not, like… yeah, I don’t know,” she said when asked if she needed medical attention.
On Thursday, the victim downplayed the incident to WFAA via text.
“We’re fine,” she wrote. “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!”
She described a “verbal disagreement” and a “huge misunderstanding” to the outlet.
“No one assaulted anyone,” she wrote to WFAA. “This is insane. And sad.”
Miller, a DeSoto, Texas native in the second of a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills, was reportedly released on a $5,000 bond after turning himself in.
The Bills said Thursday they were aware of the situation.
“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller,” the Bills said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
The team is on a bye this week.
The NFL said it has been in contact with the club in a statement of its own.
