Now that’s dramatic.
“‘Bachelorette” star Brayden Bowers, 25, is getting slammed on social media for proposing to “Bachelor” alum Christina Mandrell,, 28, during the first-ever “Golden Wedding.”
While speaking to host Jesse Palmer ahead of the live wedding of “The Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner, 72, and Theresa Nist, 70, on Thursday, Bowers dropped to one knee with a Neil Lane sparkler.
“I just knew that there was something special, and there was something different, and then I got to spend time with you and got to spend time with Blakely … and introduce you to my family,” Bowers said of Mandrell’s daughter.
“For the first time in my life, I feel like I found someone that I can be myself with unapologetically. And I have no doubts that I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he added.
A shocked Mandrell, who first appeared on Zach Shallcross’ season of “The Bachelor” in 2023, said yes, and the couple went in for several kisses.
Bowers appeared on Charity Lawson’s season of “The Bachelorette” season last summer and then on “Bachelor in Paradise” where he left empty-handed.
Shortly after “Paradise,” Mandrell and Bowers started dating but kept their relationship quiet until recently. They announced earlier this week that they are moving in together.
Still, the proposal caught fans off-guard — and irked them.
“Did Brayden just propose at someone else’s wedding?” one fan fact-checked themselves on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.
“Brayden proposing?!? At someone else’s wedding?!?! Haven’t they been together for like 8 weeks?!??!?!!??!” someone else asked.
After a commercial break, Palmer claimed that Bowers got Turner’s and Nist’s permission to pop the question on their big day, but one fan accused the host of “doing damage control” to change fans’ minds about the timing of the proposal.
“Brayden literally breaking wedding etiquette rule #1 which is don’t propose at someone else’s wedding,” another fan informed the reality star.
Someone else sounded off, “Brayden WOULD upstage someone’s wedding and propose… that is SO TACKY.”
“Just interrupt Gerry and Theresa’s vows at this point,” one unhappy fan said.
Luckily, the proposal was early enough in the live broadcast that all eyes were on Turner and Nist come ceremony time.
“Golden Bachelor” contestant Susan Noles officiated the event which was attended by “Bachelor” royalty, including upcoming lead Joey Graziadei, Charity Lawson, Trista and Ryan Sutter, as well as other fan-favorite “Golden” contestants.
