CBS announced that its popular family-oriented cop drama “Blue Bloods” will end next fall after a two-part 14th season premiering Feb. 16.
The series stars Tom Selleck as New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, the patriarch of a closely-knit family fighting crime as part of the NYPD and the DA’s office.
It has been a Friday-night staple on CBS since premiering in 2010 and is the night’s top-rated series, averaging over 9.5 million viewers per week last season.
“For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York city, but also displayed the importance of family,” Selleck, 78, said in a statement.
“Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crewe has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes.”
The series, shot in location in New York City, stars Donnie Wahlberg as Det. Danny Reagan; Bridget Moynahan as ADA Erin Reagan; Will Estes as Sgt. Jamie Reagan; and Len Cariou as retired NYPD Commissioner Henry Reagan.
The cast also includes Jennifer Esposito (Det. Jackie Curatola), Steve Schirippa (Det. Anthony Abetemarco), Marissa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray. Amy Carlson played Linda Reagan through Season 7.
“‘Blue Bloods’ will forever be a beloved part of CBS’ legacy,” said CBS execs Amy Reisenbach and David Stapf. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”
