WFAN radio legend Joe Benigno is in the co-host chair this week on “The Show” podcast, filling in for Joel Sherman.
Benigno and Jon Heyman talk about the Mets lackluster offseason thus far, who they would vote into the Baseball Hall of Fame and vent Jets frustrations too.
Former Mets manager — and a manager in Japan — Bobby Valentine joins Jon and Joe to talk Shohei Ohtani choosing the Dodgers and where Yoshinobu Yamamoto might end up signing.
‘The Show’ podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:
- METS FRUSTRATIONS: David Stearns is a “small market GM.” What has Steve Cohen done? Worried about Pete Alonso deal not getting done. Would send a bad message to fan base if they traded him. Not confident the Mets win in 2024.
- JETS VENTING: Will be a Mets and Jets fan until he goes to his grave. Malpractice for Joe Douglas to not go get another QB when Aaron Rodgers got hurt. Can’t even imagine what a Super Bowl would be like.
- BASEBALL HALL OF FAME: Albert Belle should be in the Hall of Fame. Pete Rose, Barry Bonds and A-Rod should all be in the Hall. Carlos Beltran should be in.
Bobby Valentine: Former Mets manager, Angels TV pre and postgame analyst
- SHOHEI OHTANI: Not surprised by the contract. They were in it until the end. Ohtani ruled out New York. Being on other coast didn’t excite him. Thinks Mets will be in play for Yamamoto as that is more about the money than Ohtani was.
- YAMAMOTO: Doesn’t think he will go to the Dodgers. He’s an animal on the mound.
- STEARNS: He will have every opportunity to build a winner. Would not be smart to let Alonso walk or trade him.
