Logan Roy made a mistake.
Brian Cox, best known for playing hard-nosed patriarch Logan Roy on HBO’s “Succession,” admitted that he agreed to do the upcoming reality competition series “007: Road to a Million” because “I thought it was the new James Bond film,” he told Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re getting me in a James Bond movie,” he went on.
“I thought, ‘Yes, of course!’
But, he was disappointed to learn that, “There was no script and there was no James Bond movie.”
The competition series “007: Road to A Million,” (premiering Nov. 10 on Prime Video), follows nine pairs of ordinary people who go on a global adventure through several Bond-inspired challenges, in hopes of winning a cash prize of a million dollars.
It’s hosted and narrated by Cox, 77, who orchestrates the challenges that are set in various locations from “Bond” films, such as the Scottish Highlands and the streets of Venice, Italy.
“It was fun,” Cox said about the show. “You know, I love bossing people around, so that’s what I did.”
The real next “James Bond” film has no announced release date yet, and the new actor to replace Daniel Craig has also not been announced. However, there have been rumors that it could be Idris Elba, 51, Tom Hardy, 46, Richard Madden, 37, or “Bridgerton” star Regé-Jean Page, 35.
So, technically, there could still be time for Cox to also be onboard the film.
“For years, I thought, you know I would love to be in James Bond,” Cox said on Tuesday.
“It would be really interesting. And I thought this was my moment, but it wasn’t.”
