Bryce Huff’s Jets teammates certainly recognize his worth.
He’s now in line for a well-deserved payday, which would keep him as one of those teammates for the foreseeable future.
Speaking after the trade deadline Tuesday, general manager Joe Douglas indicated they are already working on an extension with Huff, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
“My guys are excited, just me being in this position in general,” Huff told The Post after practice Thursday of his teammates’ reaction to the news. “It feels good just knowing that [the team is] considering it. But when it comes to me personally, I’m just focusing on winning right now, and I’ll let that take care of itself when it comes time.”
Huff, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2020, has emerged as one of the Jets’ — and NFL’s — best stories this year.
He’s flown up the depth chart as the season has progressed — recording 3.5 sacks, nine quarterback hits, four tackles for loss and 14 total tackles. He owns a strong 80.0 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
“One of the best pass rushers in this league, and I don’t think anyone can argue that anymore,” defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich said. “You would never know [it], just his level of humility and the quiet nature that he walks around with.”
The Jets opened offensive tackle Duane Brown’s 21-day practice window to be elevated to the active roster from the injured list. He’s been sidelined since Week 2 with a hip injury.
He returned to practice Thursday and was a full participant.
Fellow offensive lineman Joe Tippmann, who has not played since Week 6 due to a quad injury, returned to practice as well. He was a limited participant.
But with the positive offensive line news came a new concern, as Laken Tomlinson showed up on the injury report with a hamstring injury.
He was limited in practice.
Linebacker Quincy Williams was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.
He recorded two sacks, 45 total tackles, six tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, a forced fumble and fumble recovery in four games last month.
