Carl Banks calls out Giants’ Deonte Banks for wild Commanders tirade

After a big division win over the Washington Commanders, Giants legend Carl Banks wants rookie Giants cornerback Deonte Banks to leave the chirping to the birds this week.

“Love the 1 you with,” Carl tweeted in response to Deonte’s rant. “#BeGiant Save that Sh%t for Thanksgiving dinner, with the fam, not the social media.”

Deonte went to Instagram Live to rub salt in the Commanders’ wound, a 31-19 defeat that saw Giants linebacker Isaiah Simmons cap the game off with an interception returned for a touchdown to seal the game.

“Coulda came and got me at 16, and they didn’t. Now I’m 2-0 against you bum ass boys,” Deonte said. “F–k the Commanders … They finna see me two times a year until the end of my career. Two times a year. Shoulda came and got me.”

Warning: Explicit language.

Deonte also called out Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin, who caught five passes for 43 yards.

The two were matched up on 31 of McLaurin’s 60 snaps, per PFF, and the wideout finished as Washington’s third-leading receiver behind running back Brian Robinson and tight end Logan Thomas.

Deonte previously grabbed his first career interception against Washington in the teams’ first meeting, a 14-7 Giants victory in October.

“I’m just tryna figure out, though, did 17 play today,” Deonte said in reference to McLaurin. “That’s all I want to know. Did he play today? I just wanna know if he played.”

Carl later clarified that he didn’t mind the rookie’s bravado, but certain messages don’t need to be seen by the entire world — and especially when Deonte had an uneven day.

Carl tweeted: “No problem with his swagger. In fact, I love it.. but everything ain’t for social media.. he gave up 2 scores BTW.”

Carl had not been heard from much since he resigned from a weekly spot on WFAN after a heated argument about defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Deonte may be wise to take the advice of Carl — the two are not related — as the Giants legend stood behind Thibodeaux earlier in the year and the defensive end has played much better since then.

Thibodeaux has five sacks since Carl defended the second-year player leading into the Jets’ game, and his 10.5 sacks tie him with Raiders star Maxx Crosby for fifth-most in the league.

Deonte’s rant focused on how the Commanders had the opportunity to take him in the first round of the 2023 Draft but passed over him for a different cornerback, Emmanuel Forbes, at No. 16.

Forbes has struggled in his rookie season, being benched for a handful of games this season after being embarrassed by DJ Moore and the Bears on “Monday Night Football” on Oct. 6.

Head coach Ron Rivera said of Forbes’ benching: “There is a certain spot where it is about winning.”

Deonte has outplayed Forbes to this point in their careers, with Banks allowing an 86.2 quarterback rating when targeted, while Forbes allows a bloated 123.5, according to Pro Football Focus.

Forbes’ 19.1 yards per reception is the third-highest in the sport.
