Dave Portnoy explains his breakup with Silvana Mojica

Dave Portnoy shared his side of his breakup with Silvana Mojica.

The Barstool Sports founder revealed this week on his “BFFs” podcast why he broke up with his girlfriend of three years, seemingly shouldering most of the blame for the end of the relationship.

“I guess you get to a point where you think maybe there’s a difference in what somebody wants versus what the other person wants and without going into too much detail, I just didn’t think I could give Silvana kind of what she deserves,” Portnoy, 46, explained, adding that it’s “raw and fresh.”

“She’s so beautiful, she’s funny, she’s smart, she’s all these things, it’s probably a ‘me’ issue because I’m old and single at this point… but if I don’t think I’m the guy that she is looking for and is going to be able to provide her with what she needs down the road… it’s like what are you doing.”

Mojica, 28, had been involved with Portnoy since March 2021, with the pair being regulars at sporting events.

She broke the news of their uncoupling in a tearful TikTok video in which she displayed a series of romantic greeting cards.

“Imagine you buy these for someone and then get broken up with,” the Colombian model captioned the video.

When asked if the breakup had to do with her wanting children, Portnoy said he didn’t “want to get too personal.”

“I don’t want to put words into her mouth,” he said. “I’ll just say it was a conversation that it wasn’t the first time her and I had had that conversation. So it was not out of left field. But it’s still hard for me — I am still kinda seeing what she said — it sucks. You lose your best friend and someone you want to spend the rest of your life with overnight.”

Still it was invetiable, he said, even if it was painful.

“I knew, eventually, I thought, a breakup was going to happen so to let days continue to go by…” he said.

“It’s not fair to either of you guys,” co-host Brianna Chickenfry said.
