DWTS’ Artem Chigvintsev to miss Season 32 Latin Night due to COVID

COVID-19 really tripped Chigvintsev up.

Russian dancer Artem Chigvintsev announced Tuesday that he will not be competing on “Dancing with the Stars” for Latin Night this week after testing positive.

Chigvintsev, 41, posted the news on his Instagram saying that despite not being able to compete, his celebrity partner Charity Lawson will still be hitting the ballroom.

“Today I will not be performing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ because I’ve been tested positive with COVID-19,” the dancer said. “But the good news is Charity is still performing. She is dancing with an amazing guy named Ezra.”

“They are doing an incredible job and working really hard,” continued Chigvintsev. “So please show them all the love and support you can and don’t forget to vote, and I’ll see you soon.”

Chigvintsev added in his caption that Sosa, 22, has “stepped in like a champ.”

“So proud of you two,” commented one fan.

“Gonna make you proud Artem! We got this @charitylawson,” wrote Sosa.

“A duo if you ever seen what! Grateful for @ezra.sosa stepping in and getting the job done!!! Don’t miss tonight and make sure to VOTE for me,” Lawson, 27, shared.

The official Instagram account of “The Bachelorette” also commented, writing: “sending healthy thoughts to Artem and nothing but luck to @charitylawson.”

During last week’s season premiere, Chigvintsev and Lawson received a score of 22 from the judges.

“Charity is in good hands with Ezra, he’s the BEST! Wishing Artem a speedy recovery,” said another well-wisher.

During last week’s season premiere, Chigvintsev and Lawson received a score of 22 out of 30 from the judges. “Veep” star Matt Walsh, meanwhile, was the first to be sent home.

Earlier last month, Walsh, 58, told Page Six that he would be taking a “pause” from “Dancing With the Stars” while the WGA strike was going on.

“I am taking a pause from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ until an agreement is made with the WGA,” said the actor, who was paired with pro dancer Koko Iwasaki. “I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement.”

According to Walsh, he “walked out” of his rehearsal the moment he was informed by WGA that the hit dance show was considered “Struck work.”

“I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA,” continued Walsh. “Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at ‘DWTS’ who tolerated my dancing.”

The strike ended shortly before “DWTS” premiered, with Walsh returning to the show in time for its premiere.

Season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
