There’s new blood joining “Chicago Med.”
In The Post’s exclusive first look photos, new cast member Luke Mitchell, 38, debuts in a guest-starring role as Dr. Mitch Ripley.
Mitchell is an Australian actor best known for “Agents of SHIELD,” “Blind Spot” and “Big Sky.”
Now, he’ll play Dr. Mitch Ripley, Emergency Department doctor with a troubled past who shares a history with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt).
The medical drama, created by Dick Wolf, has been airing since 2015, and will be going into Season 9, following emergency department doctors and nurses at the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.
Along with “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Fire,” it’s part of the One Chicago franchise, which will all return on Jan. 17, 2024. It will be Season 12 for “Chicago Fire,” and Season 11 for “Chicago P.D.”
The TV schedule got shaken up due to the now-resolved Hollywood strikes, so it’s been over a year since “Chicago Med” Season 8 premiered in Sept. 2022.
“Chicago Med” has had some casting shakeups, with Guy Lockard, Brian Tee and Nick Gehlfuss leaving, so Dr. Mitch Ripley will help fill that gap.
According to NBC, the logline for the Season 9 premiere of “Chicago Med” is, “When the E.D. is flooded with patients from a crash, the entire team is pulled in to help. Charles can’t shake the feeling that he knows the new E.D. attending. Archer has second thoughts on the eve of his kidney transplant.”
NBC has announced that the One Chicago franchise will premiere their new seasons on January 17. “Chicago Med” will air at 8 p.m., followed by “Chicago Fire” at 9 p.m., and “Chicago P.D.” at 10 p.m.
