Francisco Lindor now has some down time to consider car shopping.
The Mets shortstop promised Jeff McNeil last season that he would buy him a car if McNeil won the batting title.
McNeil rose to the challenge and led the major leagues with a .324 batting average, but Lindor hasn’t delivered with the car.
After the Mets lost 9-1 to the Phillies on Sunday in their season finale, Lindor told The Post he still intends to follow through and buy McNeil the car.
“It will happen — it’s just a matter of time,” Lindor said. “In the offseason I have got nothing but time, so it will happen.”
Jose Butto allowed two earned runs over six innings to finish a solid five-start stretch for the Mets after his recall from Triple-A Syracuse on Sept. 6.
The right-hander pitched to a 3.29 ERA over that stretch and allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of those starts.
Buck Showalter wanted to remove Lindor from the game in the ninth inning so the shortstop could receive an ovation from the crowd.
But with Lindor stuck on 98 RBIs for the season and scheduled to bat fourth in the bottom of the ninth, Showalter opted to keep him in the game.
The Mets were retired in order, leaving Lindor in the on-deck circle.
Adam Ottavino had previously indicated his intent to exercise his player option for next season worth $7.25 million.
But the veteran reliever was less resolute about the matter after Sunday’s season finale.
“I want to see how things shake out over the next month,” Ottavino said. “We don’t even have a manager and there’s a lot of changes happening.”
But Ottavino added that he likes it with the Mets.
The 37-year-old Ottavino pitched to a 3.21 ERA in 66 appearances for the Mets this season.
The Mets and Marlins won’t resume their game from Thursday, which was suspended because of weather with Miami ahead 2-1 in the top of the ninth inning.
If the game meant anything in the postseason race, the Marlins would have returned to Citi Field to play the final inning on Monday.
The Marlins clinched a wild-card berth over the weekend and will be the No. 5 seed in the NL playoffs. They will face the Phillies in the wild-card round.
