Following the buzz around Fred again.. and Thomas Bangalter’s surprise B2B performance at Alexandra Palace, rumors have started circulating that the collaboration may evolve into something far bigger.
According to sources close to the artists, Fred again.. could become the active touring partner alongside Bangalter, effectively stepping into the role once held by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.
The speculation began after the pair’s now-viral USB show at Alexandra Palace in London, where Bangalter made his first UK performance in over 18 years. The performance blended classic French touch influences with Fred’s modern club selections, moving through records from Daft Punk, Stardust, Justice, and contemporary house and techno cuts.
The chemistry between the two quickly caught the attention of fans. Shortly after the performance, Fred shared footage and moments from the show online, admitting that he had already rewatched the set multiple times — something he rarely does with his own performances.
Behind the scenes, the connection appears to extend beyond that single night. Industry chatter suggests Fred again.. and Bangalter have been spending time in the studio, experimenting with new material and discussing the possibility of developing a new live concept that could bring Daft Punk’s legacy back to the stage in a modern format.
The idea would not involve a traditional reunion, but rather Bangalter continuing the Daft Punk project with Fred as his live collaborator, introducing a new era while respecting the original duo’s legacy.
If true, it would mark one of the most unexpected developments in electronic music since Daft Punk’s split in 2021.
Or maybe it’s simply the internet having a bit of fun.
Happy April Fools’ Day.
