Giants’ Wan’Dale Robinson ‘feels normal again’ after taking big hit

It happened on Tuesday, something Wan’Dale Robinson had not experienced since last November.

“Might have been [safety Xavier McKinney] that got me,’’ Robinson said. “Caught a crossing route and I was just boom, flat on my back and I was like, ‘That feels normal again.’ ’’

Normal is good for Robinson, less than nine months after he had reconstructive surgery to repair his right ACL.

He was activated last week off the physically unable to perform list because the Giants believe he will be ready to play before the four games he would have had to miss if he started the season on PUP.

He was a limited participant Wednesday in practice.

“If I say something they’ll listen but right now they’re letting me get as much work as I want,’’ Robinson said.

The diminutive, jet-quick receiver, a 2022 second-round draft pick, played in just six games as a rookie and had 23 receptions for 227 yards and one touchdown.

The Giants have big plans for him in Year 2. Robinson said he believes he is ready to begin his second NFL season with his teammates on Sunday night in the opener against the Cowboys.

“Yeah, definitely that’s what I want to do,’’ Robinson said.

The Giants might opt to wait another week before green-lighting Robinson.

“No, it wouldn’t be the end of the [world],’’ he said of being held out of the first game. “I know technically I won’t even be nine months whenever we play on Sunday. I know they have a plan for me and I know they’re doing everything for a reason. I trust the process and whenever I’m back out there I’m back out there.’’

After he got sent to the grass with his first real contract of the summer, Robinson said his first thought was, “I needed that.’’ He then heard Saquon Barkley shout, “Hey, you needed that right there.’’ Barkley suffered a torn ACL early in his third season with the Giants.

Head coach Brian Daboll said Robinson has looked “good’’ and “quick’’ since his return to the field.

Daboll, in two words, expressed what every NFL coach wants to proclaim this time of year.

As players were walking onto the field, Daboll said “Everybody’s practicing.’’ When he was asked about specific players, Daboll added, “Everybody’s everybody.’’

Yes, the Giants are healthy moving toward their season opener.

“It’s good to have really everybody out here,’’ Daboll said. “Guys have worked hard, training staff has worked hard. Now we’ll see where some of ‘em are but it’s good to have ’em all out here.’’

Robinson was one of seven players listed as limited participants in practice.

The others were RB Gary Brightwell (knee), LB Cam Brown (ankle), TE Lawrence Cager (ankle), DL D.J. Davidson (knee). CB Cor’Dale Flott (hamstring) and S Gervarrius Owens (hamstring).

Former Giants WR Kenny Golladay worked out Wednesday with the Jets, according to NFL Network.

It was a look-see, and the Jets do not plan to sign Golladay at this time.

Golladay was a bust in his two seasons with the Giants, with just 43 receptions for 602 yards and one touchdown in 26 games.
