Girls Aloud is back! The pop girl group announced on Wednesday (Nov. 22) that their 11-year break has come to an end, and they’ll be heading out on a reunion tour in the new year.
Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicole Roberts and Cheryl revealed that their world tour will be in celebration of the group’s late fifth member, Sarah Harding, who died after a battle with breast cancer in 2021.
“Announcing our #TheGirlsAloudShow arena tour next May/June 2024. A celebration of Sarah, our music & our incredible fans,” the group wrote on X, alongside a teaser video.
“I swear to God, I cannot for the life of me remember how we even came to this decision,” Nadine told Vogue of the announcement. “I just remember diaries being sent through and thinking, ‘Oh well, here we are!’ Suddenly I’m getting all these emails about flying around the roof of the O2 again.”
“Just don’t call it a comeback,” Cheryl added “I see it more as a celebration of a milestone. And listen: it’s gonna be unreal. And it’s gonna be the nostalgia of your life.”
The BRIT Award-winning group came together on the TV talent show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, and went on to achieve 21 top 10 singles on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and six top 10 albums. Throughout their career, the act released five studio albums and two greatest hits projects. Of those, all but one reached the top 10 in the U.K., and two of them topped the survey.
