Glen Powell is giving the naked truth.
The actor bared all (quite literally) in a very intimate interview with Men’s Health about his career, love life and what he thinks makes a movie star.
Powell, who starred in last year’s hit “Top Gun: Maverick,” revealed that in order to prepare for his role as the cocky Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin, he and Hollywood legend Tom Cruise spent hours watching movies and discussing his character’s traits.
“We would watch movies and talk about certain actors that he was kind of like, what the body posture was,” Powell, 35, who posed naked for the December cover shoot, recalled.
“He was like, ‘You as a person are very apologetic. You don’t want to hurt people, you want to treat people well, you apologize even when you don’t need to. You can’t have any of that in your eyes.’”
Cruise, 61, reportedly told Powell that while everyone in the film is worried about the mission they’ve been assigned, Seresin is cool and confident in his abilities.
Despite the box office success of the action flick, Powell has yet to find lasting love — and said that his career has possibly hindered him from building a family.
“That’s why I became a dog dad,” Powell said, referring to his rescue dog, Brisket, whom he adopted shortly after ending his relationship with Gigi Paris. “I needed to put love into something. I saw Brisket’s face and fell in love.”
Powell, who had been dating Paris since 2020, told the outlet that when looking for a partner, “you gotta find a teammate who is down for that adventure, down for that uncertainty, down for that thing.”
“It’s a lot to deal with. Honestly, I really try to be a great partner. When I love, I love hard. I also understand that the speed and uncertainty of my life is a very hard thing to put up with.”
While Powell and Paris, 31, broke up sometime early this year, he had been spotted getting cozy with “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney while they filmed the romantic comedy “Anyone but You.” They’ve denied romance rumors, however.
The “White Lotus” alum, 25, has been engaged to Jonathan Davino since last year. In May, she wore her engagement ring for the first time in nearly a year.
When asked by the outlet if Powell saw himself as a leading man, the “Devotion” star countered with his own question.
“What is a leading man? What is a leading woman? I don’t know — it’s not a thing,” he said. “It’s just people who continue to work.”
When pushed further, he revealed a piece of wisdom he once received.
“When I first moved out to LA, there was a guy named Ed Limato, who signed me,” Powell elaborated. “Ed told me, ‘The definition of a movie star is somebody you want to grab a beer with, and when you get too drunk and leave the bar, you can trust him with your wife.’”
