Miami (OH) vs. Toledo Pick
Peny Boone may get all the glamour as the Toledo Rockets lead back, but he’s not the running back to target.
Overall, the Rockets are an elite rushing team, as they rank fifth in yards per carry. However, their ground game will face a tough assignment in the Miami Redhawks defense that’s 28th in yards per rush allowed.
Looking at the top two back for the Rockets, Boone has been very efficent, averaging 7.4 yards per carry, but his line is set at 112.5. This means he will have to maintain that average for all of his projected 15 carries of in a tough matchup.
Now let’s look at Jacquez Stuart, who averages eight carries a game and 4.7 yards per carry. At his average workload and success, he would accumulate 38 yards.
However, when we saw these teams meet back in October, Stuart carried the 12 times for 60 yards as the Rockets were very rush-heavy. That was in a tight game script, with the Rockets holding a big lead for the majority of the game.
This time around, the Redhawks’ offense will not be as potent, and Toledo may be out front with an even wider margin for most of the game. This will only increase their rushing volume and benefit Stuart’s workload as the backup.
Not to mention, he’s proven he can surpass this total, as he’s gone over it in eight of the ten games he’s played this season.
