To commemorate its 10th anniversary and founder Klaus Heinz’s four decades of innovation in loudspeaker design, HEDD Audio has released limited-edition, gold-plated EDITION X Monitor speakers. These monitors will only be available for a short time, as only 100 units have been produced.
Based on the Type 05 A Core, the 18k gold-plated monitors have been handcrafted in Germany. It also features Italian-crafted elements such as backplate, screws and tweeter grille. Unlike usual monitors, all the details like the unique serial number, brand name, etc. have all been engraved in gold. HEDD Audio says, “Gold has long symbolised the very qualities that define Edition X. Its purity mirrors the all-analogue signal path, which delivers uncoloured and unprocessed sonic truth. Its longevity, rooted in gold’s resistance to tarnish, is reflected in Edition X’s ENIG-finished PCBs and premium-grade materials, ensuring decades of consistent performance.”
In terms of the hardware, the Edition X makes use of an analog signal path design. While other features remain the same as in the basic Type 05 A Core, at the heart of Edition X lies a custom ENIG-finished PCB. According to HEDD this has been done to guarantee signal purity, stability, and long-term durability.
As a mark of respect to Heinz’s innovation, one pair of the Edition X includes a gold-engraved, 40-year warranty card which is remarkably long compared to the usual five years for any HEDD Audio product. Priced at €749 (including tax), the Edition X will launch in October through select channels.
