Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Giants’ win over the Commanders on Sunday:
Hero
Giants undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito had a magical day in his second career start, completing 18 of 26 passes for 246 yards with three TDs and zero turnovers with a 137.0 passer rating.
He did this while being sacked nine time for 45 yards in losses.
Unsung hero
Giants running back Saquon Barkley was stifled for zero rushing yards on his first eight carries before bursting for a 36-yard gainer on the final play of the third quarter.
That broke the dam, and he finished with 83 yards on 14 carries and caught four passes for 57 yards and two TDs.
Zero
Commanders quarterback Sam Howell was mistake-prone, throwing three INTs and had a few other potential INTs dropped.
His final turnover was a 54-yard pick-six by Giants linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who sealed the game with his INT when Washington was driving for a possible winning TD.
Key stat
6 Turnovers the Giants forced — five from the defense and one from special teams.
It was their most forced turnovers since 2014 — also against Washington.
Quote of the day

— Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito
