Phillies fans have not disappointed during Philadelphia’s run through the postseason so far, which makes it relatively unsurprising that Arizona Diamondback fans were hard to come by at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday for Game 2 of the National League Championship Series.
However, that didn’t stop one local Arizona TV reporter from trying to find them.
Fox 10’s Troy Hayden went on the hunt for D-Backs fans around the Phillies home stadium for two hours, yielding not a single fan for him to talk to.
That set up a rather entertaining moment when the news anchors tossed to Hayden ahead fo the game insinuating that he was about to discuss conversations he had with Arizona fans in enemy territory.
“Hayden is live tonight in Philly where he caught up to some D-Backs fans cheering on the home team. Troy you found the one?” the female anchor asked.
“No. We found no D-Backs, not one. We were here for almost two hours,” Hayden responds in the clip.
It’s probably just as well that Diamondback fans didn’t make the trip to the City of Brotherly Love.
Arizona has not fared too well through the first two games of the series, falling in Game 2, 10-0.
The Phillies scored two runs through the first three innings before blowing the doors off the game by putting up a combined eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
The series shifts to Arizona on Thursday for Game 3 with the Phillies holding a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven NLCS.
“You can’t really draw it up any better than the last two games have gone for us,” Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto told MLB.com. “We’ve pitched the ball really well. We’ve played phenomenal defense. There’s been a ton of plays made in the infield and outfield that weren’t easy plays, and we’ve turned them all into outs.
“With that being said, this series is a long ways from being over. That’s a really good ball club over there that we’ve got to go into their stadium and play now.”
First pitch for Game 3 is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. ET on Thursday.
