Jets’ 11th offensive line combination was worst yet

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Jets started their 11th different offensive line on Sunday and this one might have been the worst of the season.

The Dolphins dominated the Jets at the line of scrimmage on their way to a 30-0 victory at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Jets gave up six sacks and 14 quarterback hits.

Starting quarterback Zach Wilson was knocked out of the game with a concussion.

“Whenever you get beat up front, it doesn’t feel good,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said.

The Jets managed just 103 total yards and had 23 yards rushing, their lowest total since 2005.

Dolphins edge-rusher Bradley Chubb led the way with three sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Chubb was lined up over left tackle Mekhi Becton for most of the day.

“I’m sure there’s a couple of plays that Mekhi wants back,” Saleh said. “Chubb is a heck of a football player, has been for a while. When you’re dealing with a guy like him, you’re going to win some, you’re going to lose some. He’s going to have three more opportunities to strap it together and play some good football.”

Becton blamed communication problems for the issues.

“We’ve got to communicate better as a whole, as an O line, we gotta get the cadence right,” Becton said. “We all just have to be better as one.”

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who had three catches for 29 yards, was asked if it is impossible to do anything offensively if you are dominated up front.

“Yes,” he said. “Precisely.”

The Jets have until Wednesday to add QB Aaron Rodgers to the active roster.

If they do not, his season is officially over.

The Jets could still add him and not play him in the final three games since they are now eliminated from playoff contention.

Saleh would not get into the decision-making at all after Sunday’s game.

“There’s no discussion to be had until he’s actually cleared,” Saleh said.

The Jets tried a fake punt on their second possession.

On fourth-and-4 from their own 42, already trailing 7-0, Saleh called the fake punt.

The direct snap to Ashtyn Davis did not work.

He was stopped for a 1-yard loss and the Dolphins got the ball back and eventually kicked a field goal.

“Felt like we had one from — we never got the chance to call it in the Black Friday game and felt like we had the look we wanted,” Saleh said. “It didn’t work out the way we thought it would.”

DTs Quinton Jefferson (hip) and Jalyn Holmes (knee) both left the game with injuries.
