Dalvin Cook is going to Gang Green.
The Jets have signed the former Vikings running back to a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The news comes after Cook had visited the Jets in late July with the two sides reportedly having mutual interest in one another since he was released by Minnesota in June.
Cook, a second-round pick in 2017, had made the Pro Bowl in each of his past four seasons and had rushed for over 1,135 yards each year.
Jets fans had been clamoring for New York to make an insurance signing at the running back position with Breece Hall recovering from an ACL injury.
However, the backs already inside the locker room hadn’t been paying attention the noise around Cook.
“We feel like we’re great players, too,” running back Michael Carter said on Saturday. “We’re just young in our careers. We’re all chasing greatness in terms of team and personal goals. Nothing but respect for [Cook], but we’re not really focused on that. We’re just trying to get better and grind.”
Still, at least one Jets star was hyped up for the move.
“Hell Yea RB room is sick Dalvin, Breece, MC,” Quinnen Williams tweeted Monday night.
