Jets’ Mekhi Becton gets first reps of camp at right tackle

Observations from Thursday’s Jets practice:

Breece of mind

Breece Hall was back running the ball Thursday, and that was a sight that had everyone on the Jets rejoicing.

Hall had two nice runs then caught a slant pass and raced through the defense for what looked like a touchdown.

Hall looks on track to play in Week 1, less than a year from his ACL injury.

Thrown off

Aaron Rodgers threw a bad pass across the middle that was intercepted by safety Jordan Whitehead.

It looked like Rodgers held the ball too long then forced one into coverage.

Caught my eye

Mekhi Becton got his first action of training camp at right tackle Thursday.

The team seems committed to starting Duane Brown at left tackle, but right tackle remains up for grabs.

Becton has not been part of the rotation with the starters yet, but Thursday’s reps on the right side are a step toward him being able to join the conversation at right tackle.

Rodgers report

It was a short practice that just featured a few “move the ball” periods when the offense tried to mount drives against the defense.

Rodgers went 6-for-11 with a touchdown pass to Randall Cobb and the interception.

Injury report

Guards Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) and Laken Tomlinson (leg) remained out.

DE Carl Lawson (back) and OT Duane Brown (shoulder) are still sidelined.

WR Corey Davis (personal leave) did not practice again.
