Josh Allen overtakes Tua Tagovailoa

The AFC East is where NFL MVP candidates sprout up left and right.

After a decisive win over the Dolphins in Week 4, Bills quarterback Josh Allen is now the odds-on favorite to win the award, surpassing Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa.

The sixth-year play-caller is +300 at BetMGM to be the league’s Most Valuable Player, just ahead of the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Tagovailoa, who are both +500.

Jalen Hurts of the Eagles (+800) is the only other player with odds better than +1000.

The Bills opened the season with a disappointing loss to the Jets but have been nearly flawless since then, winning games in a row and scoring at least 37 points in each contest.

With three straight blowout wins, the Bills currently hold the best run differential in the league despite their 3-1 record trailing the undefeated Eagles and 49ers.

Allen has thrown for 1,048 yards across four games with nine touchdowns and a league-best 74.8 completion percentage.

But he shot to the top of the odds board after their win over Miami in Buffalo on Sunday, which was one of the most anticipated games of the early NFL season.

Allen completed 21 of his 25 passes, throwing for 320 yards and four touchdowns without an interception during the 48-20 drubbing.

Betting on the NFL?

Although he hasn’t won it yet, it wouldn’t be the first time Allen finds himself in the NFL MVP conversation.

He finished second in the AP voting behind Aaron Rodgers in 2020 and third behind Mahomes and Hurts last season.

Allen was a popular MVP pick coming into this season, opening as the third-favorite at BetMGM, trailing Mahomes and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
