JULIAN KNOXX discusses main influences and latest release ‘Line’

Opening up on a vast array of subjects, German DJ and record producer JULIAN KNOXX is creating a legacy of his own, and in turn, this is one interview that cannot go amiss.

Taking over the dance scene by storm, one fire track at the time if we may add, JULIAN KNOXX has set out on creating his own legacy within our community, and as time progresses, this is one act that has well and truly set his sights on nothing less than global dominance. Carving his own unique path, the German DJ and record producer leaves no doubt to the imagination, with his music conveying that wider sense of hard work and dedication towards one’s craft. An act that illustrates pure passion and understanding to the requirements of success, we could not be any happier to be joined by Knoxx himself, as he discusses main inspirations and influences, the origin of his style of play, maintaining a versatile nature, releasing his his successful release ‘Line,’ future plans and so much more.

Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?

“Hello We Rave You Team, thanks for having me! My parents played me Dario G’s ‘Sunchyme’ and Gigi Dagostion’s ‘L’amour Toujours’ as a little child. This was the main influence why I am creating music and that I am a DJ today. Music was and always is the key role of my life.”

Renowned for your unique approach towards music production, we would like to know the origin of your style of play and how it has developed over the years?

“I did what I wanted. I asked myself how my music should sound. I don’t have numbers in mind or how it will resonate with fans. I think that’s the key. Any result is possible. Over time, I’ve tried a lot of things, for example, I recreated Major Lazor’s song ‘Lean On’ 100%. There was no noticeable difference from the original.”

With versatility a key aspect in the dance scene, could you talk us through your ability of adapting to different genres, and the impact this has had on your career thus far?

“I’ve always listened to and loved other genres besides dance music. When I hear Phil Collins, AC/DC, 80s/90s dance music and more, I drop everything. When I was learning to play keyboard/piano and drums, I played songs like ‘Smoke on the Water,’ ‘Every Breath You Take,’ AxelF., the Star Wars theme song, and more. For me there are no boundaries in genre etc.”

Carving your own independent path within our community, we would like to know your perspective towards reaching success, as well as any challenges you may have encountered along the way?

“Success occurs when the product you create is good. My talent and skills are essential for this, as well as simply trying out. Not following trends is also part of it. One challenge is to go the way you want without getting distracted. It was clear to me from the start that this wouldn’t be a sprint. That’s a great thing, because this allowed me to learn a lot about the music business in many ways.”

On the same note, ‘Line’ went onto amassing millions of streams, as well as reaching the top spot in the US iTunes Dance Charts. Could you talk us through the impact of such success, and the motivation it provides for future projects?

“I’m very happy that ‘Line’ has been so well-received. It confirms to me that I’m on the right path, after everyone advised me against it. I almost didn’t release the song back then because all the labels rejected it. The decision to release the track and all my other songs myself was very good. I’ll continue that way. To have this success after all the negativity is pure gold. My vision has always been crystal clear (for me).”

Garnering support from elite acts within our community, we would like to know the significance behind such recognition, and how this may help you going forward?

“Recognition from elite acts and music lovers around the world is the best thing an artist can get. When you consider that I achieved this even though I simply uploaded my music and had no expectations, it is a very nice confirmation that I am on the right path.”

Constantly on the rise, could you provide us with any hints on what the future holds for JULIAN KNOXX?

“I have two hints for you. I’m currently working on seven IDs. Some of them aren’t just dance music, and at this stage, they’re already sounding pretty good. I love the Tomorrowland Festival and was there myself in 2019, I gathered my courage and contacted them via email. I received a response. Perhaps my dream will become real.”

Remarkable to say the very least, we will most certainly be keeping a close eye on Knoxx and all his future endeavours within the dance scene, but for the time being, you can stay fully up to date by following him on Facebook, Instagram and Spotify!
