Say Meghan Markle’s name, Kelly Rowland.
The former Destiny’s Child member, 42, appeared to forget that she met the Duchess of Sussex, also 42, years ago.
The “Commander” singer revealed to Hello! magazine recently that she met Markle for the “first time” on Sept. 4 at the Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles for Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour concert alongside pal Kerry Washington.
“It was my first time meeting her,” she said of Markle. “It was just nice being there with other great women and being able to just simply talk.”
However, Rowland and the “Suits” alum’s first run-in took place in 2014.
According to a photo that was shared on Markle’s now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, that has been dug up from the grave, the pair took a photo together at New York Fashion Week with stylist Joe Zee.
Rowland further gave her take on the royal’s stardom with Hello!, saying: “I don’t know what people expect to see or to know, but she just felt very cool and very down to earth. She is very warm.”
“She was royal before she was in that family,” the “Motivation” singer continued. “I think that we are royalty before anything. And we have to hold ourselves in that regard as humans, as people.”
Markle made headlines when she married Prince Harry in 2018. They went on to have two children together — son Archie and daughter Lilibet.
In 2020, the couple made the decision to take a step back as senior members of the royal family and they subsequently moved to Montecito, Calif.
Rowland’s words are a stark contrast to the late Queen Elizabeth’s friend, Lady Glenconner, 91.
The late monarch’s close confidant recently blasted the former actress for exiting The Firm three years prior.
Speaking on the “Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth” podcast, Lady Glenconner said: “I think the thing about Meghan was, she had no idea what was expected of her really.”
She went on: “I think she just thought it was sort of like being another actress, you know. Riding around in a golden coach and everything like that. And actually, being a member of the royal family — a lot of it is extremely boring.”
In her Netflix documentary series, “Harry and Meghan,” Markle admitted that she was uncomfortable with royal life.
She said in the doc last year, “Joining this family, I knew that there was a protocol for how things were done.”
“There’s no class and some person who goes, ‘Sit like this. Cross your legs like this. Use this fork. Don’t do this. Curtsy then. Wear this kind of hat.’ It doesn’t happen,” the mother of two added.
That also included memorizing the words to the British national anthem. “I Googled it, and I’d sit there and I’d practice and I’d practice,” she recalled.
