Queen Camilla and King Charles are the “polar opposites” of one another, according to her sister Annabel Elliot.
In a new documentary titled, “Charles III: The Coronation Year,” which aired on Dec. 26, Elliot gave her take on the royal couple’s marriage, calling her sister the king’s “rock.”
“She’s somebody who is completely loyal and she isn’t somebody who has huge highs and lows,” the Queen’s sister said. “She is his rock, and I can’t actually emphasize that enough.”
As for the monarch, Elliot says that he has Camilla, 76, accompany him to every event.
“I’m not talking about all of this [Buckingham Palace], but… he has such a knowledge and interest in so many different things, which she wouldn’t really have been open to if she hadn’t met him,” Elliot says.
“They are yin and yang, really. They really are polar opposites. But I think it works brilliantly.”
“Most of us as we get to this sort of age are thinking yes, quiet times. But theirs is just going to go like that,” added Elliot, who is two years younger than Camilla.
Elsewhere in the documentary, Camilla’s longtime friend Fiona Lansdowne also spoke about the royal couple.
“They are an extraordinary team,” Lansdowne said of the King and Queen.
“And I think it’s, whether they’ve sort of had to fight to get there, or whether it’s just because they’ve been through a lot together — it’s made them have a really strong bond.”
Lansdowne spoke of the pair’s unbreakable “bond,” which she says was strengthened by their respective desires to “fight” for one another.
“I’ve known her a long time off and on. Her understanding of the role and how much difference it makes to the King has been absolutely outstanding,” she explained.
“This role is not something that she’d be a natural for but she does it really well. She provides that change of speed and tone, that’s equally important.”
The documentary also focused on the King’s coronation that took place on May 6.
In fact, Charles’s sense of humor was shown in one specific exchange he had with his eldest son, Prince William, about his infamous “sausage fingers” at the coronation rehearsal.
The monarch’s meaty mitts have been a topic of discussion since the historic occasion, and have often made the King the butt of the joke on several occasions.
But it seems as though there are no hard feelings on his part, as even he joined in on the quips.
As William uses his hands to close a small clasp holding a lavish robe around his father in the coronation rehearsal, the King’s sense of humor shines through.
“On the day, that’s not going to go in,” William can be heard telling Charles, who hilariously references his own hands by responding, “No, you haven’t got sausage fingers like mine.”
