LeBron James sends supportive message to Jets’ Zach Wilson

LeBron James offered support to Zach Wilson on Monday after the Jets quarterback nearly out-dueled Patrick Mahomes in a loss to the Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Lakers superstar took to his Instagram Story with a message for Wilson after the quarterback was seen on the sidelines blaming himself for the Jets’ 23-20 loss following a crucial fumble with 7:24 remaining in the fourth quarter.

“Helluva game kid!” James wrote over a clip from the NBC broadcast that featured Wilson’s exchange with backup quarterback Tim Boyle.

“You win as a team and lose as well as a team! 1 play doesn’t define the whole game! Keep ya head up high and keep pushing forward!! If it was easy everyone would do it!”

James concluded his message with emojis of prayer hands and a crown, along with a salute animation.

Wilson looked somber while talking to Boyle on the sidelines with 46 seconds left in the Week 4 matchup.

“I lost the game,” Wilson said. “It’s my fault, bro.”

That’s when his teammates rallied around him as he sat with his head down.

Despite the loss, Wilson showed growth in his performance against the Chiefs.

The third-year quarterback recorded his first career game with two touchdown passes and zero interceptions.

Wilson completed 28-of-39 passes for 246 yards.

“If he plays that way we’re going to win a lot of football games,” head coach Robert Saleh said after the game. “I’m just really happy for him to go out and show that he does belong.”

Wilson also said he believes that he and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett “are growing more trust.”

The former BYU product was supposed to serve as Aaron Rodgers’ backup this season while developing under the four-time league MVP.

However, the Jets’ plans changed when Rodgers suffered a torn left Achilles in the first series of their 22-16 overtime win over the Bills in last month’s home opener.

Rodgers attended the Jets-Chiefs game on crutches a few days after The Post obtained the first photos of him after his Achilles surgery.

The Jets (1-3) will look to end their three-game losing streak when they visit the Broncos in Week 5.
