Josh Duhamel has given rare insight into why his marriage with “London Bridge” singer Fergie came falling down.
The “Safe Haven” actor, 50, confessed Wednesday that the media attention surrounding his relationship with Fergie, 48, was “a lot” for him to handle.
“I don’t think I ever really got comfortable with all of it,” the North Dakota native said during an interview on “In Depth With Graham Bensinger.”
“I just missed the simplicity of who I really am, you know?” Duhamel continued. “I’m just not a guy who is comfortable going to red carpets, doing all the Hollywood stuff.”
The Post has contacted reps for Fergie.
Duhamel and Fergie were married from 2009 to 2019. They share a son, Axl Jack, who turned 10 last month.
While they ultimately didn’t work out as lovers, Duhamel still had nothing but great things to say about the Black Eyed peas alum.
“I made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship,” he explained. “There wasn’t anything wrong with it. We had a great time. I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests.”
For example, Duhamel recalled knowing that he wanted to move back to North Dakota as he got older, but knew “this is not” the right life for the pop star.
“I’ve got no hard feelings for it. I truly don’t,” he claimed. “I’m very lucky that she’s a kind human.”
Duhamel has since fulfilled his dream of ditching Los Angeles and heading back home to the Peace Garden State.
“It just took me a long time to really feel like I belong, like I fit in,” Duhamel said of the City of Angels.
“Having this place out here [in North Dakota], really allows me to get back to that kid that fell in love with nature. Fell in love with the outdoors and being creative and just being active.”
Duhamel and his wife, Audra Mari, are now expecting their first child together.
“I am truly happy for you guys,” Fergie commented on the couple’s Instagram announcement. “Axl can’t wait to be a big brother.”
