Even the unconventional union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had some traditional aspects.
Clare Waight Keller — the artistic director of Givenchy, who was behind Markle’s long-sleeved wedding gown — shared new details about the sweet (and secretive) “something blue” the Duchess of Sussex donned for her May 2018 nuptials.
More than five years after the couple tied the knot, Waight Keller revealed she stitched blue fabric from the dress Markle wore on their first date into her iconic wedding wear.
“We basically sewed it into the hem of the wedding dress, so she was the only one that knew that it was there. It was a little blue gingham check,” Waight Keller told Vanity Fair in a new interview.
“It was the perfect personal memento that was secretly hidden inside the dress,” the British designer added.
An estimated 29 million people tuned in to watch Harry, 38, and Markle’s historic wedding.
Markle, 42, alluded to the sentimental addition in the 2018 HBO documentary “Queen of the World,” but didn’t reveal its exact location.
“Somewhere in here there’s a piece of blue fabric that’s stitched inside — it was my something blue,” she gushed. “It’s fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date.”
The Post has contacted reps for Markle for comment.
Meanwhile, Harry and Markle do not live happily ever after in the eyes of many Brits.
The pair stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020 and started a new life in California, where they live with their two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.
An explosive sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey followed their departure, with the pair claiming royals had expressed concerns about Archie’s skin color, among other jaw-dropping revelations.
Then, in December, the couple provided an intimate look at their new American life in the Netflix docuseries “Harry and Meghan,” where they dished on their strained relationships with family members, including Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
And, to top things off, Harry detailed the royal pains of growing up within the monarchy in his January memoir “Spare.”
Through it all, Harry and Markle are “really happy together,” People reported earlier this month — even as they face career setbacks, rumors that Harry is missing England, and speculation they are having marital troubles.
