Mets radio broadcaster Pat McCarthy was recently hit by a car while he was jogging and underwent surgery.
The news was first revealed Tuesday night on the WIP broadcast of Game 7 of the NLCS between the Phillies and Diamondbacks.
McCarthy recently finished his first year as the Mets radio pregame and postgame host for WCBS, while also filling in on game broadcasts for Howie Rose.
Before joining the Mets radio crew, McCarthy, the son of former Mets radio play-by-play voice Tom McCarthy, broadcasted Triple-A Lehigh Valley games.
Pat filled in for his dad — who is the Phillies’ television play-by-play announcer — on two Phillies broadcasts during the 2022 season while Tom was on assignment calling an NFL preseason game.
McCarthy joined Keith Raad as first-year Mets broadcasters.
Raad replaced Wayne Randazzo as Rose’s primary booth partner after Randazzo left to become the Angels’ television play-by-play voice.
Raad previously was the voice of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
