DETROIT — Brooklyn consigned the Pistons to a dubious place in infamy, the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history.
But they barely avoided becoming a footnote, and Detroit’s slump-buster.
The Nets spotted the woebegone Pistons a double-digit lead and trailed in the fourth quarter before rallying for a 118-112 victory at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday.
Amid chants of “Sell the team! Sell the team!” Brooklyn handed Detroit a 27th straight defeat, the most ever in a single campaign.
After the Nets had beaten the Pistons on Saturday at Barclays Center, Detroit had been tied with the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers.
Now the Pistons (2-28) are all alone in the record book.
The all-time mark is 28 games spanning two seasons, Philadelphia from the end of the 2014-15 campaign and the start of 2015-16.
Cam Johnson led the Nets with 24 points on 4 of 6 from deep.
Mikal Bridges added 21, while both Nic Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe had identical 11-point, 11-rebound efforts.
