NFL bettors lose $536K on Dolphins-Eagles

There will be weeks to talk about big wins, but this is not one of them.

Bookies absolutely dominated the field on Sunday, perhaps none more than on several big bets involving the Miami Dolphins, who would go on to lose in Philadelphia on “Sunday Night Football.”

Numerous big bets came in on the Dolphins as we got to game time on Caesars Sportsbook, including three huge ones worth a total of $536,000 via Ben Fawkes on X.

The three bets went out as follows and were all big losers.

  • $242,000 on Dolphins ML +140
  • $158,000 on Dolphins +3 (-115)
  • $136,000 on Dolphins ML +135

Of course, the Dolphins would go on to get punched in the mouth throughout their matchup with the Eagles en route to a 31-17 loss.

Caesars reported via its X account that 53 percent of the wagers against the spread were on the Dolphins, while a massive 72 percent of spread bets were on the Dolphins to win outright.

The high number percentage is thanks to these three huge bets, one of which comes in from a bettor in Kansas.

It is also worth noting that the public was in on Miami as well, with 56 percent of overall tickets coming in on the Dolphins, although the average wager besides the three big ones is unknown.

This is just one of many poor betting blunders from the sports betting population, which got absolutely annihilated on public favorites.

According to BetMGM Sportsbook, 90 percent of the money was on the Buccaneers -3 against the Falcons, who upset Tampa Bay and won outright.

Four of the top five Sunday favorites did not cover the spread and three of them lost outright on Sunday.

  • Buccaneers -3 (90 percent)
  • Browns -3 (86 percent)
  • Bills -7.5 (86 percent)
  • Seahawks -8 (82 percent)
  • Raiders -3 (75 percent)

Oddsmakers won huge on Sunday, with the Dolphins-Eagles being just one of many big wins across the board.
